WELCOME TO CANUN
Identification:
To enter Mexico from the United States or Canada, proof of citizenship is required, such as passport, birth Certificate, voter registration etc. Most other countries require a visa. With a tourist card which is issued upon entry to Mexico you may travel anywhere within the country of Mexico. For those who want to invest and have multiple entry privileges or to work in Mexico, a FM-3 permit is required, see the Mexican Embassy in your area or immigration while in Mexico.
Population:
Cancun is a community of 500,000 residents with a hotel section which will accommodate approximately 15,000 visitors.
Transportation:
Cancun International Airport receives air service from some 50 countries. The Buss system through out Mexico is out standing with premium busses which are air-conditioned and most show movies while in transit. Once in Cancun taxi are plentiful and of course, the local bus system will take you to almost any destination.
Language:
The primary language is Spanish, however, when traveling through out Mexico you can normally find someone that speaks English to assist you.
Money:
The currency of Mexico is the Mexican Peso. You are never far from a Casa de Combia, Exchange House, most banks have automatic tellers available and you may acquire cash with your atm card or credit card. Most businesses accept other currencies. However, paying in Paso's never creates an exchange rate problem.
Weather:
Cancun has an annual temperature average of 25 degrees centigrade. It is very comfortable year around. Late summer and early fall is the rainy season, however, it normally rains during the night.
Dress Code
Casual wear is acceptable anywhere in Cancun. Some restaurants do not allow Bikinis and some require the men to wear long paints. When making a reservation for dinner it is always wise to ask about the dress code.
Shopping:
Most malls have prices attached to the items and bargaining is not appropriate. However, the street peddlers and open markets do bargain. The best advice is that when you find an item at the price you are satisfied with, purchase it. Many tourist have been disappointed when returning to a particular shop or vender to only find the item sold to another.
