WELCOME TO A PEICE OF PARADISE

For swimming, the Hotel Brisas's beach is excellent, but try several others, particularly on the other leg of the "L" from where you are staying. The beaches on the southern end of the "L" (from the Camino Real Hotel toward the airport) are breathtakingly beautiful, but the strong undertow, abrupt dropoff, and strong surf make it a challenge to swim.

The beaches toward town are smaller, usually dotted with palm trees, shallow for some distance out, and have little surf, making them great for swimming, snorkeling and other water sports. One nice area is Chac Mool, a public beach near the Aristos Hotel. Another popular spot is the Gaviotas Azul beach club next door to the Krystal Hotel.
