Cancun's world-class Convention Center, rebuilt at a cost of $90 million following Hurricane Gilbert's 1988, enables Cancun's hotels to host 12,000 people for a convention. The new Convention Center contains 72,000 square feet of exhibition space, 52 meeting rooms, two ballrooms of 28,000 and 14,000 square feet, and facilities for theatrical performances, concerts, and expositions.

The Center also contains a shopping plaza with more than 50 boutiques and services, and a 500 foot tower with a restaurant on its top. A number of the larger hotels also have ballrooms and convention space to augment the facilities at the Convention Center.
