SHOP CANCUN
Within just a minute or two from the Meigas Hotels, Hotel Brisas Cancun, you will find a buffet of malls, shops, and boutique, anything and everything from the simple to the most discriminating test. Just follow the menu and select just the right place to fit your desires.
The Cancun area offers excellent shopping. And most stores are conveniently concentrated in several highly modern and attractive shopping centers. Gold and silver jewelry, fashionable resortwear and imported perfumes are among the resort's best buys.
Plaza Kukulcan, in the Hotel Zone at km. 13, by TucanCun Beach and Villa Marlin, is the largest and newest shopping center in Cancun. In addition to some 350 shops, it has two cinemas, a bowling alley, a gourmet food court, several first-rate restaurants and underground parking.
Plaza Caracol, located near the Convention Center, was designed by an internationally-renowned architect (Galerias in Houston and Dallas, among others) and has plant-filled atriums, marble floors and more than 200 establishments.
Plaza Flamingo, located in front of the Flamingo Hotel, is another popular shopping center. It is home to Planet Hollywood and Pat O'Brian's, and contains numerous fast-food spots.
Plaza Nautilus, Plaza Lagunas, Plaza Mayfair, and La Mansion/Costa Blanca are just a few of the smaller shopping centers around town. The Convention Center also contains several attractive stores and restaurants.
El Zocalo, in front of the Convention Center, is an interesting bazaarwhere you can see handicrafts being made by artisans from all over Mexico. The bazaar also has a multimedia show, an exhibit of the history of Mexican clothing, fashion shows, restaurants, Marina Jet Ski, and a Mexican Fiesta that starts at 6:30 pm.
Most of the individual shops and restaurants in downtown Cancun are located along Avenida Tulum and on the side streets that run between Tulum and Kukulcan Blvd. at the southern end, and betweenTulum and Uxmal avenues at the northern end.
Shopping hours are generally from 9 or 10 am to 2 pm and from 4:30 to 9 or 10 pm. Some shops are open on Sunday.
