WELCOME TO ISLA ROQUETA
Isla Roqueta, setting just across the channel from Playa Caleta and The Grand Meigas Resort "Caleta Hotel", is a must for all tourist coming to Acapulco. During the 15th thou the 17th Centuries the Island served as a lair for the Pirates who roamed the Pacific and prayed upon the Naos (ships) from the orient and Manila. which it is believed yet today, a least according to popular local legend, within the deep thickets of tropical foliage of the island, there are abundant hidden treasures of gold and precious jewels.
The Island is as pretty as a picture setting out in the Bay. Getting out to the island is also an attraction in itself, as you cross the waters in a glass bottom boat, just the thing for getting a closer look at the abundant sea life and see the Patron Saint of the Fishermen; an idol of the Virgin of Guadeloupe anchored at the bottom of the sea bed.
Once on the Island and if you're not into treasure hunting, the beaches are exceptional with sheltered by the island itself allowing the rippling gentled waves to wash over you as you are getting some sun while enjoying one of the islands famous fish dishes or a simple cocktail. Or you can visit the Islands small Zoo which will delight many.
Just come to the Caleta beach or Magic Sea World and book your passage on the one of the glass bottom boats. A day that you'll enjoy.
