The Club - Timeshare Comparison

Timeshare is a fairly simple concept, you simply divide a condo into 52 weeks and the purchase a week or more, valid each year. This allows the purchaser to own their vacations using their condo each year. The pre-vacation purchase assures the owner, the ability to vacation tomorrow at todays prices relieving the ever increasing vacation cost due to inflation. The Price Is Frozen because the purchase is done at today's prices. Of course, there is an annual maintenance fee, which covers the tax, insurance, up-keep and management. Also, there are Exchange Companies which will accept the members week and trade it for a week in another resort through out the world. There are annual membership fees to belong to the Exchange company plus an exchange fee. In Top Resorts Such as Westin a week runs over $25,000.

About Get Aways and Club Development
First lets take a look at vacation history. Now before were done, I'm sure you'll be able to guess my age. But, when I was young the vacation dream was "The Cabin On The Lake". You could buy a lot for $400 or $500 and build a cabin for $2,000 or 3,000. Then the land increased, the construction cost increased as well as the size and quality. Now it's a summer home on the lake and the original cost doesn't even make the down payment. However, as air travel etc. opened up, the Cabin became very confining. There is still a market for the summer home, but it is just that "a summer home," the people still Vacation. Right?

Next, the motor home came along, remember, you could buy the small one for about $5,000 or $6,000. The same thing happened, they call it inflation, they got bigger, they got better and the cost of manufacturing increased. What you would have paid originally, now will not make the down payment. But those owners, still park their motor home, get on a airplane and Vacation Worldwide. The market is still there.

Then, your right! Timeshare came along. The basic concept was that you buy (deed and title) your future vacations and only pay a maintenance fee on the vacation condo that you own a share of. In many cases due to the legality of 52 owners in one condo and the developers mortgages etc., timeshare developed the "Right to Use", system where you actually purchase the right to use the condo for a given amount of time and own nothing, of course, you still have to pay those fees. Due to inflation and I'll have to admit some greed, it seems that the right to use has become the right to rent. Again the cost have gone through the roof, however, that market is still there. This brings us up to today's market.

I am going to diverse for a minute and give you a little back ground on Get Aways and how Get Aways evolved into the next step in Vacationing. In the very early 80's I came to Mexico and set-up a very successful timeshare resort in Cancun, it was so successful that a demand caused the organization of a consulting firm. In 1986, I was privileged to be staying in the Famous "Las Hadas Resort" which was touted for years by Robin Leach on the TV show "Life Styles Of The Rich And Famous". I had occasion to meet a young man from Camarillo California who had just purchased 30 Condos in Suites Puerto Las Hadas and 16 lots on the La Punta where the homes range from 1/2 mill to 10 millions dollars each.

He asked, if I would take over his marketing in Mexico, stating the he had invested XX amount and XX amount was the return he wanted on his investment. Get Aways checked out, he gave the freedom to market in any direction wanted. Therefore, after taking a long hard look at the "right to use" system commonly marketed in Mexico and the fact that he also owned a successful travel agency. I pointed out that a purchaser was purchasing 30 vacations, usable over 30 years plus fees, in a timeshare right to use. Why not do-away with timeshare and allow the purchaser to use the 30 vacations in anyway they choose, all at once or whatever they desire. The Membership fee pays for the condos and a travel service fee pays for the upkeep of the condos.

"The Club" was born. Get Aways has been in the same office, with the same phone number, banking at the same bank sense before we met 12 years ago. Get Aways can boast of, no bad reports to the BBB over the years. The condos are paid for and other resorts are coming to Get Aways.

The next evolution in vacationing is the Vacation Club. Everybody seems to be selling some sort of vacation club to the public these days. Over the years we have held our marketing cost very low and have stayed away from the typical methods of high cost marketing. Our methods have been successful to where the new resorts just opening, new resort purchases, etc. have come to Get Aways for promotions. Therefore, Get Aways has a vast array of resorts reaching over the US, Canada, Mexico, The Caribbean, and Hawaii just to name a few. This allows Get Aways to give its Club Members access to 4 and 5 star Resorts (mostly condos) at a low flat service fee. Get Aways, only has about 4,000 members, we have kept the Membership small and "The Club" very exclusive.

Vacation Areas.
Get Aways works with a varied number of resorts in each vacation destination area. To give you the most flexibility possible, we use a vacation destination area rather than a specific resort name in the area. Requesting a specific resort name limits your possibilities of confirmations for the destination of your choice. For example, you want to go to Cancun, Mexico. You would advise us of this request, the dates of your choice, and we go to work! Once we have located a resort for you, we would contact you and let you know the name of the resort, the amenities, etc. If you approve the resort -- Off You Go!

Unlike most hotels that start empty and gradually fill up. our affiliated resorts start full and then gradually become available. Our inventory of weeks comes from owners, developers, and rental operations. We have no control over which resorts, destinations, or dates are going to be available.

Obviously, a large destination area, such as Orlando, has tremendous availability, whereas many smaller areas (such as specific Islands in the Caribbean) have limited availability. Please keep this in mind when making your request.

We use a network of brokers that keep track of all request in particular areas and resorts. As inventory becomes available your request will be confirmed. Please do not call us to check the status of your request. We will call you immediately when we have a choice for you. Remember - it is in our best interest to have you travel - we want you to "Get Away"!

Flexibility.
It is important to be flexible. We need to have the flexibility of a desires area to obtain the best results for you! Without flexibility you limit your chances for a successful vacation confirmation. Remember, when making a request, try to ask for several different areas or a least 3 or 3 different dates. The greater the flexibility of your request, the greater opportunity to confirm your choice.

Dates Of Travel.
Check in times are set by the individual resorts and you must abide by their rules while you are their guest. Unlike hotels, our affiliate resorts normally set one day of the week (usually Saturday) as check-in and check-out day (sometimes Fridays or Sunday). But remember, we do not have any control over check-in days. You will need to make your vacation plans according to the days of the week the resort has set. All reservations are for a full week. All reservations are subject to availability. Regular reservation request are 1 year to 45 days in advance and impulse reservations are from 45 days to 7 days in advance.

Remember the old adage "The Early Bird Gets The Worm," the more lead time you can give us the better the results.

If you must vacation on holidays, please plan ahead 1 year to 6 months), especially for prime summer and winter vacation destinations. This is the period of greatest demand and not only is the space scarce but the airfares are at their highest. More demand means less supply, please try to be realistic and select travel dates that do not fall on holidays. Request for holiday weeks are very difficult, normally Christmas, New Years, and Easter holidays are not available.

How To make A Request.
1. First, select the vacation destination area or areas you wish to visit.

2. Choose the dates you wish to travel and the number of people to be included in your party.

Due to recent problems caused by unsupervised young people at any resorts, Get Aways has taken the position of not allowing any member to book for young people under 25 unless the member will be there for the entire time and will be responsible for them. Confirmations will be made on the occupancy requested not to exceed the size of the corresponding form of payment. We ask for your cooperation in this matter.

3 All request forms must be submitted in writing and mailed or faxed to our office in Camarillo, Ca. If your requested arrival date is outside of 45 days we will only accept the request in written form. We will take phone request if your planned date of arrival is less than 45 days, we also request that you follow up your phone reservation request in writing. When calling in a request we will need to know; your membership number, the desired destination area, travel dates desired, number of people traveling, your credit card number and expiration date, and also how the name appears on the credit card. We cannot begin to work on your request without this information.

4. We will acknowledge your request by sending you a reservation request acknowledgement form.

5. Please do not call us to check on the status of your request. We will call you immediately when the availability for your request occurs. If you can no longer wait and need to make other plans, just call us to cancel your request. We will keep your request open unless we hear from you to cancel the request. Remember we want you to travel!

6. A representative will call you when your request is confirmed. Once you have received confirmation on your vacation accommodations it's now time to make airline reservations, if air travel is part of your plans. Our reservation department can assist you with making these reservations. This is an optional service offered at no additional charge. Remember, once your reservation is confirmed, there will be no refund. So, when you make your request be sure it is where and when you want to go and if you need to cancel be sure to do so before your request is confirmed.

Confirmation.
Once you have approved the resort, we have found for you, we will confirm the reservation. Any and all fees concerning a reservation are paid for at the time of confirmation, (see forms of payment) . Confirmation and tickets will be sent First Class via U.S. Mail. These documents will be mailed to the address given on your request form. We can have your documents delivered by an express mail company for an additional charge. All pertinent information for you to contact the resort is furnished within these documents.

Our broker system works well and when a reservation is confirmed, it is paid immediately. Therefore, when we call with a confirmation... we have obtained that unit for you and you only. It is non-transferable and non-refundable, we complete the transaction and you own the vacation. Only those named on the confirmation may occupy the accommodations without written permission from Get Aways Inc. All confirmations are final!

Maid Charges.
All units are cleaned your arrival and again after your departure. Some resort units are serviced daily. However, if you require and request maid service during the week and it is not provided normally, most resort can provide this for you at a small additional charge. You never need to bring towels or bedding - it's always provided.

Additional Fees.
Some resorts have security deposit which must be paid directly to the resort by the guest. You will get a deposit back if have not created extra charges (telephone calls, meals, drinks, etc.). Guest are responsible for all personal charges.

Forms Of Payment.
We require a guarantee form of payment at the time of request. We accept checks, money orders or credit cards (Mastercard, Visa). All checks must be payable in U.S. funds and cleared on a U.S. Bank and stated as such on the front of the check. Your check is not deposited or your credit card is not charged until we confirm your request.

Guest Responsibilities.
The Guest will br responsible for any damages. abuse or vandalism to any rooms, condo-apartment, common areas, etc. caused by the member or the members guests, above normal "wear and tear."

Resort facilities, amenities and services vary by country, location and resort. Room accommodations vary in size, decor and interior detail. Guest must abide by the rules and regulations of the resort they are visiting. All resorts insist that a responsible adult (over 25) be in the party during the vacation stay. The individual guest is responsible for any charges incurred at the resort. If there are any outstanding charges from previous vacations, new reservations will not be confirmed.

Airline Travel.
Club Members receive the non-published promotional airfare codes when making a reservation request deposit. With these codes you may purchase your special discount airline tickets through us or your local travel agent. Codes are available for many major airlines and charter companies. All such deposits are credited to the purchase of airline tickets or other travel fees. There are no extra charges for our personalized service. Our travel agents are specialists in arranging the most convenient flights, taking into consideration all of the details concerning your arrival to the resorts. We are a personal service oriented company, experienced in all phases of travel and your accommodation options.
